Wrestler List & Real Names D. Fake Federations <==> Real Federations E. Wrestler Changes between FFPW and FPW2 F. Closing Comments =============== A. Introduction =============== There are 200 wrestlers available in Fire Pro Wrestling 2. Only 10 of them are available from the start. Of the rest, all but one are unlocked by playing the Ironman Road mode. Each match type in the Ironman Road has a set of wrestlers exclusive to it. If you are challenged by a new wrestler and win the match, you will unlock that new wrestler for use in Exhibition, Multiplayer, Edit, and Ironman modes. This guide explains how to release the unlockables, lists the full roster, and discusses the real personalities that the "fake" characters are based upon. There's also a section for which wrestlers appear in the US version off the game that don't in the JP version (and vice versa). ============== B. Unlock List ============== The list below shows which wrestlers are potentially available for each match type at each difficulty level. You will have to play through multiple times to unlock the full stable in any mode. The model looks identical though. The bio says "Bodyguard of Musashi," which makes some sense for the following reason. Musashi is Antonio Inoki. Chyna, aka Joanie Laurer has been touring with Inoki's NJPW of late and was on his 08/08/02 UFO show as well. *3 = The bio hint says "Had a legendary match against MUSASHI." From http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~YF7M-ON/ematch3.html : Antonio Inoki (5R 1'38" KO) "The Monster Man" Everett Eddie "The match against the (U.S.) National Professional Karate champion is said to be one of the best mixed matches by Inoki. Inoki put Monster Man up and dropped to the head, which looked like today's powerbomb. Inoki won by KO after a leg drop." Just go to the site and look at the picture. It's him. *4 = #195: I searched and searched, but you try to find all the 6-foot, 9-inch tall Sumo wrestlers who weighed around 517-lbs. That's a monster of a man. Akebono is close to Kaijyu's measurements, at 204cm and 234kg. He is not from Tonga however. Rikishi looks like the character and some of the moves are right, but the stats and bio are senseless. It could be Yokozuna, if for only because he was popular and the right size - but the moves really ain't right. *5 = The height and weight is all wrong, but they redid the head on this model. In the Japanese version, it was #238 Tsuneo "Piston" Horiguchi. But now the head is different and REALLY looks like Rocky from the movies. And the quote, "fights for his love," sure sounds like the relationship between Rocky & Adrian. ========================= D. Fake Fed <==> Real Fed ========================= Fire Pro Wrestling 2 has 18 programmed federations and 36 total logos. I've done my best to convert the federations into their real world equivalents. Some of the edit mode logos are purely fictional, so I have ignored those. Also, a few edit mode logos are different than they were in the Japanese version. Stock Federations ----------------- WPA WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) *1 AWG WCW (World Championship Wrestling) *1 XWA ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) *2 SEE NOTE!! VJP NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) BLACK Team 2000 (NJPW Team 2000) OJP AJPW (All Japan Pro Wrestling) NOVA NOAH (Pro Wrestling NOAH) NEO ZERO-ONE (Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE) UNO UFO (Universal Fighting Arts Organization) IW FMW (Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling) *3 YUKIGUNI Michinoku (Michinoku Pro Wrestling) DRAGON Toryumon T-A AAA/CMLL BLADE PRIDE (Pride Fighting Championships) GRAPPLE UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) FREE FREE (Freelancers) LEG LEGEND (Legends) SPECIAL SPECIAL (Special Guests) Federations With Edit Mode Logos -------------------------------- GONGS RINGS (Fighting Network Rings) HIGH CLASS PANCRASE (Hybrid Wrestling Pancrase) B BATTLARTS RYU WAR (AJPW's Wrestle Association R) S-1 K-1 UWH UWF (UWF International) ZIP JAPAN BJW (Big Japan Pro-Wrestling) *1 Since WCW was bought by WWE and the WWE now has two brands, the names I'm using in my game for WPA and AWG are WWE S (WWW Smackdown) and WWE R (WWE Raw). *2 It's obvious that this new logo was meant to be ECW, but since that organization folded, your guess is as good as mine. XPW is what the remnants of ECW is called, but some of the wrestlers are showing up in the WWE and in NWA-TNA as well. In my game, I named this fed XPW/NWA with the long name of XPW/NWA-TNA. *3 The original FMW is dead. Onita has started a new FMW, which fans refer to as Onita FMW. He and Mr. Pogo are basically the only stable members. To complicate things, a new group headed by Hayabusa is called WMF (Wrestling Marvelous Future). WMF is currently touring with a lot of original FMW guys and has major financial backing. Personally, I also lump the IWA in with this group, since there was a lot of overlap in the past. In my game, I have named this fed WMF-FMW with the long name of WMF-FMW-IWA. ========================================= E. Wrestler Changes between FFPW and FPW2 ========================================= Even though Fire Pro Wrestling 2 has a roster of 200 wrestlers, it is actually missing a fair number of "full" wrestlers who appeared in the Japanese version of the game, titled Final Fire Pro Wrestling. At the same time, the US version has many "full" wrestlers who weren't in the Japanese game! In a nutshell, "Full" means that they don't just have heads and bodies in the edit menu, but programmed AI and move-sets as well. Below is a list of the wrestlers who are in one version of the game, but not the other. The parentheses next to some names indicates that while they are not in the game as a "full" character, their body and head are available in the edit mode. The asterisk (*) next to a name indicates that a wrestler is flat out gone from the other version of the game. [Thanks to Haddes911 for the idea and a lot of the information for this section. Closing Comments =================== This is a great game. Identical to the first in most respects, but I guess some folks will appreciate the extra body and clothing options in the Edit mode. It is really too bad BAM! removed the M.O.R. mode that the Japanese version possessed. It's a double shame that there isn't a basic audience mode. I think Rat Tights & Mask Boy are guaranteed opponents in the handicap grouping on the Ironman Road hard path. Not once have I not fought them. Want to play a USA style tag match? Set match type to TAG, rules to AMERICAN, illegal attack to GRUESOME, and cut play to OFF. This will result in more damage per move and the tag partner not cutting in every five seconds. There _IS_ a wrestler unlock code to unlock all 200 wrestlers in the US version of the game, but I promised BAM! I would not reveal it. Keep searching, but please don't ask me for it. I hope this FAQ was helpful. ..end..
